MAKE A DIFFERENCE: DONATE RUNNING SHOES
I consider myself a runner even though I am not a fast one. At least three times a week I find myself moving my legs as quickly as possible on either the pavement or on a treadmill. My calves may burn, and my lungs may feel void, but after a run I always feel like the best version of myself. It may not be easy but it always worth it. And even though I haven’t ran a race in over a year, I have put plenty of miles on my running shoes. My running shoes are important and they are that one tool that I absolutely need to be safe and comfortable for my runs. So when one pair of faithful running shoes wears out it can be difficult getting rid of them, but it can be a lot easier when giving them to others that need them!
One Word Running is an organization that repurposes used running shoes in two ways: 1. Shoes is good condition are sent to oversees to people in need. 2. Shoes that have been worn are sent to the Nike Headquarters in Oregon who recycles the shoes to be used in playgrounds and running tracks. Used running shoes can be dropped off at a few select locations or mailed in at:
One World Running
c/o Boulder Storage 6439 Arapahoe Rd. Boulder, Colo. 80303
One World Running also offers various services trips where they go oversees to deliver the shoes. If you want to participate first hand in delivering shoes to those in need then head to their website for more details. How awesome is it that there is a way old running shoes can still be used by others in various ways! Instead of creating more waste the next time you replace your running shoes, give them a second life and help others!
