MAKE A DIFFERENCE: BLUE JEANS GO GREEN

MAKE A DIFFERENCE: BLUE JEANS GO GREEN

_

I am in the process of moving into a new apartment right now which is always a huge task. To make the move easier, I am trying and get rid of as much stuff as possible. To be honest, there’s a lot of stuff that lives in my closet that I have completely forgotten about which means I don’t need it. I also have to get rid of some stuff to make some room for my fiancé. I’ve had the freedom of having my own space these last four years. But as I enter this new chapter it’s time to start considering someone else which means I really need to get rid of those items that I don’t have a use for anymore.

One of those items I came across during my clean-out were jeans. I discovered 5+ pairs of jeans that I could no longer fit or weren’t in good condition. To be honest I don’t know why I held onto them for so long but they were definitely taking up too much valuable space. I didn’t just want to throw them away but most of them were in no condition to donate. When I came across the Blue Jeans Go Green Program by Madewell I found the perfect solution to my problem. This program allows people like you and me to donate our jeans instead of throwing them away. Donated denim is then recycled into insulation for houses that are built by Habitat for Humanity. To date Madewell has collected over 2.5 million pieces of denim and have created over 4.8 million square feet of insulation. To make it even sweeter that means over 1,230 tons of waste has been diverted from landfills. The Blue Jeans Go Green program is such an easy way for anyone to give back!

You can donate your denim by taking them to any Madewell store and to make it even sweeter they will give you 20% off a new pair of jeans from their store. No Madewell store in your area? You can still participate by mailing in your jeans. Check out Blue Jeans Go Green website for a mailing address. Don’t let your old jeans go to waste, have them recycled, and have them do some good!
