MAKE A DIFFERENCE: CLEAN-UP YOUR COMMUNITY
It’s officially spring and I will use any excuse to be outside enjoying Mother Nature. I can’t help but want to be outside taking in every fresh breath of air I can, from going to a run to taking my dog to the park. I have to say I really do appreciate living in San Diego and its more than just the warm weather, beaches, and friendly people. One of the things I love most about this city is how clean it is for a large city. And it makes me feel so grateful and blessed to live here. A clean environment matters a lot to me and thats why this month I am encouraging you to make a difference by helping clean-up your community! There are a plenty of organizations that depend on volunteers to help clean up trash and debris that harm the environment and cause an eye sore. From the ocean, to the river, and deep in our canyons, it feels good to look at the natural beauty of the environment and lessen the impact of humans living in it. Did I also mention that April is Volunteer month? Thats right, an even better reason to get out there and help out. Be a part of your community by getting hands on and becoming involved in making it a beautiful place for everyone.
Here are a few organizations in the San Diego region that hold routine community clean-up events: I Love a Clean San Diego, San Diego River Park Foundation, San Diego Coast Keeper. If you aren’t in San Diego then you can use google to find a clean-up event in your area and you should especially pay attention to any scheduled on/around Earth Day. The truth is you don’t need an event to clean-up (but of course its nice to work closely with others) and you can always spend time on your own picking up and properly disposing of litter around your neighborhood. We all have the ability to make an impact and keep our environment clean!
