MAKE A DIFFERENCE: WRITE A LOVE LETTER
When I was in high school I was obsessed with the movie The Notebook. I think I watched it at least once a week for my entire senior year. As a teenage girl I was in love with the idea of love and dreamt of having my own Prince Charming. The story of Noah and Allie touched my heart, I just couldn’t get over how cute they were together. But the part I’ll always remember is when Noah and Allie are outside in the pouring rain and Noah says, “I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year”. Cue the tears. Theres something about writing letters that exemplifies love. I know the main way of communication now a days are through text messages. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it doesn’t take a lot of effort. In our busy lives it makes sense to send a text when we need to communicate. But I feel like writing letters is a lost art. Writing letters is so much more meaningful and intentional. I feel like when you take the time to write a letter it shows you are taking the time to show someone you really care about them.
So this Valentines Day I am challenging you to show kindness by writing a (love) letter! It doesn’t matter if you are single or in a relationship, you can write a letter to anyone you care about. Do you have a friend that lives far away that you only see a few times a year? Write them a letter. Even if you have a friend in the same city, you can still show them how much you care by writing a letter. Let that friend (or lover) know how much you they mean to you. Thank them for everything they do. Share all the ways you appreciate them. And of course describe some of your best memories together. Letter writing is such a rarity in our day and age, but breaking out the pen and paper is such a nice and easy way to surprise someone. Adding in some cute stationary will give your letter a more special touch.
