MAKE A DIFFERENCE: MAKE A CARE PACKAGE
Last week I received an e-mail alerting me that flu season was approaching and that I could get this year’s flu vaccine free of charge. I sat there for a second trying to wrap my head around the fact that it was that time of the year again. How did the year go by so fast? And then I thought about how bad the flu season was last year. Emergency rooms were filled with people suffering from the flu. And yet many were told to go home, rest, and let their bodies fight it out.
Care packages were my life line back in college. Besides a small mini mart on campus there wasn’t a real pharmacy or store for miles. This meant I was at the mercy of my friends who had cars. If my schedule happened to aline with theirs, I’d join them on a ride to get what I needed. But that was few and far between. Whenever I received a big box in the mail I knew it was a care package filled with snacks, toiletries, and other small items I desperately needed. The dollar amount of all the contents didn’t add up to much but it was an overwhelming feeling of love I felt that someone had thought to help take care of some of my basic needs.
Today I am encouraging you to make a care package to give to those friends and family members who might need it this flu season. When the flu hits, it hits hard. Having vital items on hand is Important for a speedy recovery. Surprise a friend and help them get back to living their best (healthiest) life. Below are a few suggestions for items to include in a care package:
Chicken Noodle Soup
A book/crossword puzzles/movie
A handwritten note
Take a some time to get these items together, you’ll never know who might need it this season and who will truly be blessed by such a small but kind gesture.
