MAKE A DIFFERENCE: GIVE CLEAN WATER
The majority of us turn on the faucets of our sinks and showers without thinking twice about where our water comes from. It's there, its safe, and it's convenient. We use it to quench our thirst, cook our food, wash our hands and our bodies. Water is a necessity of life. Every single human being needs it to live. Yet so many of us take it for granted, while others struggle to have access to it.
For people in undeveloped countries clean water is not so readily available. According to the United Nations, 2.5 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Often their water is contaminated with bacteria and parasites that make it unsafe for human consumption. Unclean water leads to many water related illnesses and death. Other times a clean water source is so far that its takes hours to access it. A whole day can be spent fetching and bringing back water.
The Her Initiative is a non-profit that focuses on empowering women in underdeveloped nations through clean water and hygiene education programs. They do amazing work to end the global water crisis and help women understand health risks associated with unclean water and certain practices. Often the burden of collecting water for the day falls on girls, meaning they cannot pursue an education. The lack of clean water creates a terrible cycle of poverty. The Her Initiative believes that by giving women access to clean not only will they be healthy but it allows them to grow so that time can instead be spent pursuing education and other opportunities.
The Her Initiative is running a 25 for 25 Campaign to celebrate their 3rd birthday. Let us break down how it works. They are simply asking 2,500 people to donate only $25 by August 25th. By meeting this goal they can bring clean water to over 100,000 women and children! Thats right, a small donation of $25 can go a long way in bringing clean water to communities that lack it. Your donation can impact entire communities and generations for years to come.
Feel like $25 dollars is more than you can donate this month? We're challenging you to make simple adjustments to your lifestyle in order to help bless others with the basic necessity of water. You can save $25 by passing on one Sunday Funday Brunch and mimosas. Going out for food and drinks can get expensive. So were swapping one girls night out with a home cooked meal. If you are a girl who primps like crazy, skip out on a service this month. That means you can paint your nails at home. If you get waxed routinely or spray tan, push it off just a little longer. There are plenty of areas in your life where you can come up with a little extra money. Your donation has the power to bring life to someone!
We're asking all of our bounteous babes to be apart of the 25 for 25 campaign and help make a difference. Make your $25 donation by clicking here and don't forget to donate by August 25th!
