FRIDAY FAVES: RED THREAD MOVEMENT
When I saw a friend wearing the red thread bracelet by Eternal Threads, I knew I had to purchase one myself. Not only are they the perfect accessory, I am all about doing my part to help make this world a better place.
The red thread bracelets are made by girls in Nepal that have been rescued from human trafficking. The money from the purchase goes towards funding safe housing for the girls. While living in the safe house the girls received training and receive income from the products they make, including the red thread bracelet. In addition, the training they receive helps them equipped to have their own tailoring shop, setting them up for a future.
The red threat bracelet helps bring awareness to modern day slavery. I know its hard for many of us to understand that there are millions of people around the world that are trafficked and enslaved. Its a covert industry, happening right under our noses, which allows it to thrive. I wrote about human trafficking earlier this year, if you want to learn a little bit more about it here. The red thread bracelet can be used as a conversation piece and to help spread the word about human trafficking. The next time someone compliments me on bracelet, I will definitely be sharing a few facts about modern slave trade and what we all can do to dismantle it.
If you want to help make a difference, you can purchase one of the bracelets here.
